Shillong, March 17: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Wednesday said the present expenditure incurred for payment of salary to the Adhoc school teachers is Rs 181 crore, even as he said the State Government is examining the matter related to the enhancement of salaries of the Adhoc school teachers.
“The process for the enhancement of the salary of the teachers is under examination and the Government is working on it,” Rymbui said while replying to a query raised by Mawphlang legislator SK Sunn in the Assembly on Wednesday.
Explaining about the expenditure, the Education Minister said, “The salaries that we paid for these Adhoc schools LP UP …the expenditure is about Rs 181 crores and if as per the demand as per the voice raised by the honourable member every now and then to bring them to the level of the Government teachers same work same pay additional expenditure will be Rs 251 crore plus. “
Stating that the expenditure is not easy for the government to fulfill, the Minister however said, “It is, however, the endeavor of the government to fulfill the responsibility as and when the fund position of the State is comfortable.”
There are 1,225 teachers in 2,450 lower primary adhoc schools, 844 in 3,376 upper primary adhoc schools and 386 in 2,139 secondary adhoc schools.
