Great Horn Bill, Grey Langur and other exotic Endangered species rescued in WJH

Jowai, August 07: The Phramer Traffic Cell of West Khasi Hills District on Friday, around 11:15pm seized a vehicle bearing registration number of ML 11 0661 carrying endangered species.

The vehicle driven by one Kormola Bru of Mizoram along with an occupant and was on their way to Guwahati.

During search the team found 6 boxes containing endangered exotic Wildlife Species that falls under the Schedule – I & II of the Wild Life Protection Act.

The driver and one more occupant who was driving together was detained and handed to the Range Forest Officer, Jowai Division along with the rescued endangered exotic wildlife for the safe custody and further necessary action.

The List of Endangered Wildlife Species Rescued were 2 Hoolock gibbon, 1 Great Indian Hornbill, 2 Grey Langur, 1 Phayre’s leaf monkey and one animal which resembled a Tree Kangaroo which is yet to be confirmed.
