Shillong, Aug 8: BJP MLA AL Hek on Monday said that he doesn’t think that there is a ‘political vendetta’ behind the arrest of the party’s State Vice President and Tura MDC Bernard N. Marak.

His statement deters the earlier statement of BJP that there is a political vendetta behind the crackdown on Marak’s private farmhouse in Tura where an alleged ‘sex racket’ was running with 5 minors being rescued.

“It is too early to ascertain if there is a political vendetta or not,” said Hek.

He, however, condemned the police harassment against the party supporters. He stated that it very wrong of the police to harass the BJP Karyakartas by calling them in the middle of night and holding them back for several hours.

He also supported the party’s demand for an independent probe into the case.

Asked if this kind of incidence will hamper the relationship between BJP and NPP, he said that all political parties may work together as an alliance but when they are on the ground campaigning they have their own separate manifesto and own agenda.
