Shillong, Aug 10: NPP national vice president Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said it will be a history repeat for the Congress in 2023 assembly elections in the state.
Giving his prediction about the fate of the Congress in the upcoming elections, Tynsong, who is also deputy chief minister and a former senior leader of the grand old party, said the Congress need to further strengthen their foundation from the scratch.
“They (are) back to square one,” he said.
Recalling the year 1972 when the Congress could win only few seats, Tynsong said, “Now history repeats. They will have to again go back and revisit the year 1972.”
The NPP leader said he is glad that the former Congress legislators had listened to him by jumping from a “sinking ship” and saved themselves from drowning.
