Shillong, July 13: Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Dr LR Bishnoi informed that there are no complaints received at headquarters regarding any human rights violations.
Briefing media persons, the DGP said that so far, if any complaint is received, it is immediately addressed at the highest level.
“We have already issued directions from headquarters that human rights should be respected at every level, whether it is at thana level, subdivision or district level, if any violation comes to our notice it will be dealt with at the earliest,” Dr Bishnoi said.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister informed that the judicial inquiry report submitted by Justice Vaiphei is being examined. Sangma said that since it is  a very, very lengthy report like all the other reports hence it is taking time.
“So at the appropriate time we will be informing everybody about the outcome of the inquiry report that was given to us,” the Chief Minister said.
Asked about the militancy issue in the state, the Chief Minister informed that during the Conference of the SP’s/ CO’s of Meghalaya police which was chaired by the Chief Minister himself, militancy issues were discussed along with the entire issue of Law and Order.
The Chief Minister further said that different aspects of policing were discussed and in most of the districts, the law and order situation is more or less peaceful and there are no specific incidents or activities of underground that have been reported.
