Guwahati, April 24: Independent candidate Shikha Sharma campaigns solo in Nagaon without supporters. There are only two days left for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held on 26th April.
Major parties like the BJP, Congress, and AIUDF are busy with extensive rallies and campaigning efforts, Shikha Sharma, contesting as an independent candidate from the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat, was seen doing her election campaigning alone. Apart from just one bodyguard and her husband, no one is visible.
Shikha Sharma, a female writer, and litterateur who is contesting as an independent candidate from the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat. During campaigning by Shikha Sarma said to the media that “for the last five years I have been with the people, I am working from my side for the welfare of the people. BJP has put the public in trouble, the situation going on these days is not a good thing”.
“There are 32 lakh unemployed youth in Assam, but the BJP government has given only 1 lakh jobs. BJP has communal thinking; they think of separating Hindus and Muslims that is why I am doing work from the last five years at the grassroots level”.
Sarma said that “Actually I had not come to do politics, but during the conversation I realized that he would not be able to run the government alone. That’s why I have come into politics. BJP only talks about Hindus and Muslims. Sarma also said that Congress has not done anything for the Muslims of Assam. Congress came to power by taking votes from Muslims but did nothing for the people. Therefore, there is a need to throw Congress out of India”, she added.
