Jowai, Aug 07: Intensified Indradhanush Immunisation 5.0 was launched in West Jaintia Hills on Monday at the 100-bedded MCH Hospital in Panaliar, Jowai.
The District’s Additional Deputy Commissioner, HMK Kynta, graced the occasion as the chief guest, emphasizing the importance of immunization in safeguarding the health of children and expectant mothers.
In her address, he highlighted that the immunization campaign would span three rounds, each lasting for six days, at all health centers, and would be provided free of cost. She urged parents and pregnant mothers to take advantage of this opportunity and get vaccinated during the IMI campaign at their nearest health centers.
Dr. E. Suchiang, a reputed Paediatrician in Jowai, emphasized the significance of immunization in shielding children from infectious diseases. He encouraged parents and mothers to seize this opportunity to protect their children’s health and overall well-being.
Dr. Helen Uriah, the District MCH Officer in Jowai, stressed the importance of the immunization card, urging parents to carry it whenever they visit for immunization. The card serves as an essential tool for easy monitoring of an individual’s immunization and helps parents stay on schedule with their child’s immunization regimen. Dr. Uriah also informed the gathering about the three phases of the IMI campaign, which will take place from August 7 to August 12, September 11 to September 16, and October 9 to October 14, 2023, encouraging active participation from everyone.
