Guwahati, Mar 29: This is not the first time in Arunachal Pradesh politics, earlier also political leaders won unopposed in the Arunachal Pradesh assembly elections.
The fear of not recovering the “investment” is the primary reason behind candidates winning uncontested in Arunachal Pradesh
Five BJP candidates, including chief minister Pema Khandu, are expected to win unopposed as they were the solo candidates in their respective constituencies after March 27, the last date for filing nominations.
Along with Khandu Deputy chief minister Chowna Mein from Chowkham and five other BJP candidates- Jikke Tako from Tali, Ratu Techi from Sagalee, Nyato Doukum from Taliha, Mutchu Mithi from Roing and Hage Appa from Ziro Hapoli are likely to win unopposed as no other have filed nominations.
The Chief minister Pema Khandu won unopposed from the Mukto assembly seat in the Teang district.
Retired engineer Techi Rotu from Sagalee in Papum Pare, Jikke Tako from Tali in Kra-Daadi, Nyato Dukam from Taliha in Upper Subansiri, and Mutchu Mithi from Roing in the Lower Dibang Valley district.
In 2014, Assembly election in Arunachal Pradesh had seen the highest numbers of uncontested winners- Seven of Congress, including Khandu. The other were Phurpa Tsering (Dirang), Mama Natung (Seppa West), Kameng Dolo (Pakke-Kessang), Nabam Rebia (Doimukh), Nabam Tuki (Sagalee), and Lombo Tayeng (Mebo).
