Shillong, Dec 14: NPP leader and cabinet minister James K Sangma on Wednesday wondered how the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) can deliver its promises in Meghalaya when it has failed to do so in West Bengal.
“…when they (AITC) couldn’t deliver their promises in Bengal then how are they going to deliver here,” Sangma told reporters.
He said as the election is approaching and is just round the corner, the opposition will make such kinds of promises to lure voters. “However, the public of Meghalaya today is intelligent enough to understand this,” he added.
Claiming that the NPP-led MDA government has delivered its promises to the people of the state, Sangma said, “The public of Meghalaya knows that whatever promises made by chief minister, he has delivered them. It may not be 100% but to very large extent our MDA government has delivered what we promised.”
Referring to the AITC launching a flagship programme extending support to women folks, Sangma said it is just an election gimmick. He also questioned why the opposition left out youth, farmers, entrepreneurs, and others.
