Jowai, Jan 30: Several candidates filed their nominations today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Jowai for the upcoming Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) elections on Thursday.
Among the key contenders is the current Chief Executive Member (CEM) of JHADC, Thombor Shiwat, who is seeking re-election from Moodop Umladang as an NPP candidate.
Also in the fray is Richardsing Lyngdoh, a four-time MDC, contesting from Mynso Nongjngi under the Congress ticket. Expressing confidence in his campaign, he believes he will secure another term.
Former District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. D.I. Kjam, has entered the race as an NPP candidate from Jowai North.
Adding to the competition, former FKJGP – West Jaiñtia Zone president Damien S. War has filed his nomination as a UDP candidate from Mynsngat Khanduli.
The Voice of the People Party (VPP) saw a strong presence with 14 candidates submitting their nominations in Jowai. Among them is the district president of VPP, Chanbor Rymbai, who will challenge CEM Thombor Shiwat in Moodop Umladang.
