Shillong, Sept 24: Concerned over the continuous opposition on the legalization of Casino in the state of Meghalaya, the local legislator of Jirang, Sosthenes Sohtun, on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, asking him to pass a notification for stopping and cancelling the project in Ri Bhoi District, especially in Jirang Assembly Constituency.

In the memorandum, Sohtun mentioned that the Casino topic has badly affected the sentiments of the people of the Jirang Assembly Constituency and the state in general, adding that bringing of such amusement in the area would badly affect people and youths of the constituency.

Sohtun also mentioned that, as the Chief Minister has addressed in the Assembly that the Government would totally stop this project and cancel the deal at the earliest possible time, therefore, the legislator has sought from the Chief Minister to issue a notification on the matter at the earliest.
