Shillong, Dec 6: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Pyniaid Sing Syiem, on Wednesday inaugurated essential civic facilities—a waste collection truck and a public toilet—at Ïew Mawphlang under Hima Mawphlang.

The waste collection truck, which was sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission’s tied Grant for the year 2020-21, was formally inaugurated amidst the presence of Lamphang Blah, Chairman of KHADC and local MDC of Mawphlang, alongside CA Lyngdoh, the Lyngdoh of Hima Mawphlang, and other dignitaries.

Additionally, the Synjuk Hima Arliang Wahlang Umiam Welfare Society unveiled an ambulance, which he handed over to Hima Mawphlang.

Addressing the gathering, the KHADC chief emphasized the vital role these newly inaugurated facilities would play in serving the people of Hima Mawphlang. He highlighted the authority vested on village leaders under the Solid Waste Management Act 2020, enabling them to enforce penalties against individuals found littering or violating the Act.
