Khalistani leader Harjeet Singh flown to Dibrugarh with high security, lodged in Central Jail

Guwahati, March 21: Harjeet Singh, the leader of the Pro-Khalistani, was transported with high security to Dibrugarh on Tuesday morning and has been lodged in the Central Jail. The Punjab Police team, accompanied by the Assam Police, arrived in Dibrugarh Central Jail at 7.10am via road from Guwahati.

The number of supporters brought with the team remains undisclosed, and the name of the person brought in today is also yet to be disclosed officially.

Harjit Singh, the uncle of Pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh, surrendered in Punjab the previous night.

Sources also informed that another team with additional Pro- Khalistani supporters supposed to reach Dibrugarh by air on Tuesday.

Earlier, four Waris Punjab De members were flown to Dibrugarh in upper Assam and kept in Central Jail, Dibrugarh on Sunday.

The four detainees of the Waris Punjab De were flown to Dibrugarh and detained under the National Security Act (NSA), with Daljeet Kalsi, Basant Singh, Gurmeet Singh Bhukhanwala, and Bhagwant Singh alias Pradhan Mantri Bajeke currently held at the Dibrugarh Central Jail.

On Monday, Assam Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Prashanta Kumar Bhuyan convened a high-level meeting on security issues in Dibrugarh on Monday.
