KSU slams Mukul for ‘two-faced politics’ over ILP issue

Must read

Shillong, Dec 3: KSU President Lambok Marngar has slammed the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) leader and former Congress leader Dr Mukul Sangma for playing two-faced politics over the issue of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State.

In an exclusive interview with Hub News on Friday, the KSU Chief said, “We have to remind the people of the State… under his (Dr Mukul) Government that the High Level Committee headed by Bindo Lanong had recommended the State Government for the implementation of ILP in the State…. He (Mukul) clearly said that the Implementation of ILP is not under the manifesto of his Government.”

“Why play with our people’s emotions… under his regime many of us the NGOs and Pressure Group leaders have been jailed… we have been tortured and that didn’t end with us…. even our family members have faced many problems, yet his (Mukul’s Government) stood firm in saying ‘No to ILP’,”  added Marngar.

He said when the Mukul led MUA government was in power, they did nothing to push for ILP in State but when his party came to opposition in 2019, they joined in the chorus of the pressure groups in demanding ILP.

“…but it’s good since they have repented now,” the KSU Chief said sarcastically.

“People change with time… if they have repented and publicly said ILP is their main ideology then well and good but make sure to follow up with the resolution passed on 19th December 2019 in implementing of the ILP in our state” stressed Marngar.

Meanwhile, he slammed the Central Government in delaying the implementation of the ILP. “If Manipur can get it why not us?… Are we demanding something that is impossible or something unconstitutional? It clearly shows that the Central Government is not serious with this issue,” he wondered.

Marngar also urged all the 60 MLAs to take the issue of ILP seriously, urging them to stop playing politics as this is an issue which concerns the people of the State.
