Kusimkolgre-B Bifurcates and Forms ‘Kusimkolgre Council Gittim’

Must read

Williamnagar, July 24: In a notable development, Kusimkolgre-B, a well-known locality in Williamnagar, has officially separated from Kusimkolgre-A to establish a distinct entity known as ‘Kusimkolgre Council Gittim.’

Hub News had the opportunity to sit down with the newly formed executive members of Kusimkolgre Council Gittim for an exclusive interview. The legal adviser of the newly formed locality, Mr. Challang Artius Ch. Marak, shed light on the reasons behind the bifurcation. He explained that on June 6, 2023, they received a letter from the Office of the Napak Mahari of Kusimkolgre-A, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar. The letter informed them that, as per an order from the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills, Shri. Vibhor Aggarwal, the Napak Mahari had conducted a general meeting on May 30, 2023. During the meeting, it was decided not to issue Nokma Documents to the residents of Kusimkolgre-B until further instructions were received from the authorities.

Under these circumstances, the residents of Kusimkolgre-B held their own general meeting on July 8, 2023, and unanimously decided to separate from Kusimkolgre-A and rename their locality as ‘Kusimkolgre Council Gittim.’ Mr. Artius further emphasized that the Nokma Document was crucial, as all 65 households in the locality required it for various purposes on a daily basis. This necessity played a significant role in their decision to establish a new locality.

Regarding the change in the name of their locality, Mr. Artius shared two reasons. First, during a meeting in 1977, the GAD, Urban Affairs, District Council Revenue Staff, and the Deputy Commissioner agreed that the plot of land from Kusimkolgre Gate to Rongrenngre Higher Secondary School playground would be handed over to the District Council. The District Council subsequently issued land pattas for these plots. As the residents were living in the land allotted to the District Council and possessed land pattas issued by them, they chose the name ‘Kusimkolgre Council Gittim.’

When questioned about their efforts to inform relevant authorities about their newly formed locality, Mr. Marak stated that they had already submitted letters to the local MLA and Minister of State, Mr. Marcuise N. Marak, the Chief Executive Member of GHADC, the Urban Affairs Department, the municipality, the Deputy Commissioner, and the Superintendent of Police, East Garo Hills.

This transformation marks a significant milestone in the history of Kusimkolgre-B, as it takes on its new identity as ‘Kusimkolgre Council Gittim’ and begins a new chapter in its community’s journey.
