Laitjem Sub Centre inaugurated, to cater to healthcare needs of 6 villages under Mawphlang

Shillong, Feb 23: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the Laitjem Sub Centre that will take care of healthcare needs of 6 villages under the Mawphlang Constituency.The inauguration programme was attended by Health Minister James PK Sangma, C&RD Minister Hamlet Dohling and Mawphlang MLA Eugeneson Lyngdoh.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma said that after the difficult times of COVID 19 and realizing the importance of health services the government is taking Health sector as a top priority. “In this 50th year of Statehood the government will ensure that the health facilities in the State especially at the grass root levels are functional,” he said.Later, in a Twitter post, CM Sangma wrote, “In our mission to bring basic primary healthcare closer to the people, today we inaugurated the Laitjem Sub Centre. Investing & improving healthcare infra has been MDA’s pursuit. Happy that this Sub Center will take care of healthcare needs of 6 villages”.


The Chief Minister while thanking the frontline workers, the community leaders the health officials for their tireless efforts to tide over the COVID crisis said that the battle against COVID is not completely over and urged everyone to exercise caution as life comes back to normal.

It may be mentioned here that the Laitjem Sub Centre was sanctioned at a cost of Rs 25.92 lakhs during the year 2012-2013 under the National Health Mission. The work was completed on 28/07/2014. Soon the Sub Center will also be upgraded to Health & Wellness Center so that it will be able to provide comprehensive primary Health Services to the Community.
