Tura, May 6: The Ringgi Songgital Area Development Committee (RADC), concerned about growing pollution levels in the area due to increased footfall of locals and visitors, conducted a cleaning drive at river banks near Sela Wari on Saturday.
The committee has decided to conduct a weekly cleaning drive near the river banks every Saturday. The committee has advised the people to follow the rules and regulations set by them at the fish sanctuaries in the area.
People from Tura and nearby areas often visit the river banks near Sela Wari for washing clothes, taking a bath and merry-making. However, they often leave the area polluted by breaking bottles, throwing plastic chips packets, soap covers, and other garbage.
The Secretary of the Ringgi Songgital Area Development Committee has welcomed people to come and visit Rongichak Wari, Rongkabok, and Chubijim Wari, which are situated near Tura. However, visitors must comply with the rules and regulations set by the committee. They are not allowed to break bottles, fish, or engage in any activity that could harm the fish sanctuaries.
The cleaning drive is aimed at keeping the river banks clean and healthy for visitors and locals alike. The Ringgi Songgital Area Development Committee has urged everyone to cooperate and participate in the weekly cleaning drive to make the area a cleaner and better place to visit.
