Shillong, May 10: Director of Health Services Dr. Aman War on Monday said that cases of Covid are likely to decrease from next week.
Speaking to the media after reviewing the Covid situation in Shillong Civil Hospital, he expressed confidence that the ongoing lockdown will enable to contain the spike in Covid cases. “We are confident that the cases would come down by next week”, he added.
“Cases would not go down immediately with the imposition of lockdown… lockdown has been imposed to contain the spread of the virus,” he said, while informing that every household in the state in their own faith are offering prayers to overcome the challenge.
Reiterating that the situation is still grim in the State, Dr War state that it a tough time and we will overcome this with active cooperation from all stakeholders in the society.
“The best place is to stay at home, if you come out, you will not only infect other’s but even your neighbours,” he added.
He also said that the Government is giving home treatment to patients with asymptomatic and mild symptomatic.
Earlier, Health Minister AL Hek also said that the lockdown is important and people should follow all the protocols.
Joint Director (SS) of Shillong Civil Hospital, Dr Andreas Dkhar said that the Government is ramping up health infrastructure in several places to cater to the increasing cases.
He also informed that the Shillong Civil Hospital as of now have enough oxygen and ventilators.
It is to be noted that the state is witnessing more than 300- 400 cases on a daily basis and more than 30 people have also died due to the virus in last 3 days.
