Shillong, Feb 15: Lumparing Presbyterian School, one of the oldest schools in Shillong, celebrated its centenary on Tuesday in the school premises.
Speaking at the occasion, Cabinet Minister and local MLA Sanbor Shullai exhorted the students to say that education is not only necessary for life, but education is the basis of life.
“I belonged to a very poor family… but reached to this level where I am today is only because I worked hard and I have been very sincere with my studies,” said Shullai in his speech.
Shulai praised the teachers for their hard work despite receiving a very low salary. “The teachers have been driving the future of the students with their time and hard work. And it is the responsibility on the shoulders of the students that they should not let the hard work of the teachers go to waste,” added Shullai.
The extension of the school building under the 15th Finance Commission (Untied Scheme) 2020-21 implemented by the KHADC was also inaugurated on the occasion by the MLA in the presence of the Malki MDC Fantin Lakadong.
