Major boost to NPP as HC clears its Mawlai candidate Teibor Pathaw in EPF misappropriation case

Must read

Shillong, Feb 13: In a major boost to the National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Teibor Pathaw from Mawlai, the Meghalaya High Court on Monday acquitted all charges against him ahead of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections 2023.

Pathaw was charged with a case on misappropriation of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) of his workers under his agency. However, the case was already cleared out in the year 2018, but because the case was pending in the High Court, it had to be held back for its last hearing, which concluded on February 10, 2023.

Teibor said he has informed the election department about the removal of his case after following all the rules and regulations put forth by the Election Commission of India as the political parties are bound to declare if any cases are pending against them. Now, he will also let the people know about the removal of cases against him.

This comes as a big win for Teibor Pathaw because his opponents have been disparaging his name due to the case.

Teibor had urged his supporters to understand the judgement from the High Court, and warned that from here onwards if the opponents continue to use the case to tarnish his image, he will take it up with the higher authority and take legal action against them.
