Mamata Banerjee meets families of the victims of Mukroh firing

Shillong, Dec 13: AITC Chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday met the families of the deceased of tragic incident at Mukroh Village on November 22, 2022.

The AITC chief has extended an ex-gratia support of Rs 5 lakhs to the families of the victims.

The purpose of the meeting of the AITC chief with the victims’ family members was to express her solidarity in their hour of grief. She also instructed her party members to stand by the families and fight for the due delivery of justice.

Also on Tuesday, the AITC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee was welcomed with the loud drums beats as she arrived at State Central Library to address party workers at U Soso Tham Auditorium.

Supporters were anxiously waiting for the arrival of the chairperson; upon her arrival religious ritual Ululudhvani by the female supporters were also heard.

Mamata Banerjee made an impressive act by taking on the traditional drum and joined the other Garo Dancers beating the drum.

Banerjee is on a two-day visit to the state and is accompanied by AITC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who is visiting the state for the third time.

During her interaction with the party workers, Banerjee said that if TMC forms the government here in Meghalaya, such schemes and programmes can be implemented which will benefit women and provide employment opportunities to the youths. Further, she stated that the sons of the soil should govern the State and should not be controlled from New Delhi or Guwahati.
