Guwahati, Feb 23: An EGPD team from Satgaon Police Station acted swiftly and within half an hour were able to arrest one Habibur Rahman (35) of Bordanguri for the gruesome murder of Rouchan Ali alias Chana (60) of Ambari Sundar Path, at Dalbari on Wednesday.
The murder weapon was also recovered from the accused, police said in a statement.
The incident took place at Sundar Path in Ambari area at around 1.45 PM when the accused attacked and hacked the deceased to death with a dao. After which, the accused fled the scene of crime.
However, he was apprehended by the Police within half an hour of the incident, at Dalbari near Gas Agency.
Legal action has been initiated against the accused, the police statement added.
