Imphal, Jan 6: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday came down heavily on Union Home Minister Amit Shah for misleading the public by making false claim.
“Union Home Minister Amit Shah (has) misled the people of the State by making false statement. Amit Shah claimed that insurgency has come to an end in Manipur. If so, then why AFSPA is not withdraw from Manipur,” said Ningombam Bupenda Meite, senior spokesperson of Manipur Congress.
He said Shah has given many facts in his statement which are not true and which perhaps led to the distortion of culture, history and thousand years civilization of Manipur. “We are very much upset with his statement,” he said.
“Amit Shah also spoke about National Sports University of Manipur, but there is no working campus in the University. We want to ask when National Sports University (will) have its own campus,” Meite stated.
He also claimed that the Union Minister had mentioned about the Inner Line Permit (ILP), but it hasn’t been introduced in Manipur, yet. “So, we urge the government to ensure and introduce ILP in Manipur,” he said.
He further said, “The Union Minister also spoke about ‘Drug free Manipur’. But in reality, the BJP government in Manipur has failed to stop drug menace in the state. It is still running in the state… The BJP is in power in both State and Centre but then why they failed to stop the drug racket in the State. They should ensure the people of the state that within few years Manipur will become free from drugs.”
Union Home Minster Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several projects in Manipur.
