Shillong, April 23: A massive fire broke out in Byrnihat’s Industrial area in the wee hours of Saturday in which a factory was gutted. No casualty or injuries have been reported in the incident.

The blazing fire gutted the Shiv Polymer Private limited and could not be controlled even after 12 hours with more than 30 fire-fighter vehicles (fire engine) pressed into service to control the blaze.

The cause behind the massive fire is suspected to be short circuit.

Police officials and fire tender vehicles arrived at the spot at the earliest and were engaged in dousing the flame. Till the filing of this report, the fire fighters had not been able to bring the raging fire under control.

The inferno has led to a huge loss of property in the factory. According to reports, properties worth Rs. 70-90 crore have been gutted.
