Shillong, July 2: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) has decided to defer the re-examination for the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) and Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) by three days to now start on July 12 and conclude on July 20.
The MBoSE re-examination for the Covid-19 affected candidates was earlier scheduled to be held from July 9 – 16. 92 candidates for the HSSLC and 98 for SSLC are set to appear in the exam.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said, “Only 98 of 55,000 SSLC candidates have missed the examination and only 92 of the more than 30,000 HSSLC candidates are affected due to COVID-19.”
On the concern expressed by the Opposition Chief Whip and Mawlai MLA, PT Sawkmie over the decision to conduct the examinations, Rymbui said he cannot have two different norms for the same students.
“It is very difficult…but I hope that the people will understand that we are doing this for the interest of the students and also it is mandated that the results (of the HSSLC examination) will be declared before July 31,” he said.
Over 18 centres have been arranged for holding the special examination across the state.
