“(I) Would like to wish all the women of our state Happy International Women’s Day. It is the most appropriate time and year because on 50 years of Meghalaya statehood, two top administrative positions are held by women – the Chief Secretary and Special DG who are both women and indigenous tribe. It’s a great year and memorable 50th statehood,” said Sangma.

Despite the challenges, however, he said several programs like a number of development activities, infrastructural projects, programs for youth and women were taken up.

“Despite the difficulties MDA govt was able to improve the development index in every sector. While we speak about the achievements, we can’t say we achieved everything… we have done our best and we have seen changes taking place in the education, health and many sectors. One can’t say or expect for us to change all the challenges in four years,” the Chief Minister said.
