Meghalaya Dy Speaker participates in 18th CPA, speaks on peaceful co-existence and economic development of NE region

Shillong, May 12: Deputy Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Timothy D. Shira, on Thursday participated in the 18th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone III Conference in Itanagar.

The Conference was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla.

Speaking on the topic “Challenges of North East Region and way forward”, the Meghalaya Deputy Speaker spoke on the values and objectives of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), peaceful co-existence and development among the North Eastern States.

He also spoke on the necessity for improving road, rail and air connectivity for economic development of the region. He also referred to the Look East Policy which will enhance both tourism and international trade with the South East Asian Countries, and boost the economy of the North Eastern States.
