Shillong, May 11: The state government will soon take a call on the rise in prices of fuel, LPG cylinder and other essential commodities affecting the citizens of the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday told reporters the government is yet to take a call on the issue when asked if some relief would be given to the citizens in view of the sharp rise in the prices of petrol, diesel, LPG and other essential commodities.
Tynsong said he would soon sit with the Chief Minister to discuss the price hike issue which is taking place everywhere in India and throughout the world.
“The Chief Minister may convene a meeting on the issue so we will take necessary decisions on this issue,” he informed while asserting the need for the central government to also step in.
“The centre and the states have to jointly take a call on this as it is happening everywhere in the country,” Tynsong added.
The deputy chief minister further said the sudden hike in the fuel prices was because of the Russia-Ukraine War. “It has affected not only these two countries but it has affected us globally. Therefore, this is a global issue and not of India alone,” he stated.
