Meghalaya Police seize over 1 kg of Heroin, arrest two women

Shillong, Nov 8: Meghalaya Police has arrested two women from Madanrting area of Shillong city in connection with possessing over one kg of Heroin. The arrest was made on November 6, 2021 after a house raid.

Giving more details on the incident, Superintendent of Police for East Khasi Hills, Sylvester Nongtnger, said police had received information on 5th November about an illegal consignment of narcotic drugs being delivered to a person staying at Madanrting.

“Further, on 06/11/2021 after the information was verified, immediately the ANTF Team along with officers and personnel of Madanrting Police Station proceeded to the residence of the suspect. A house search was conducted at the residence of the suspect in the presence of independent witnesses. During search, 101 soap boxes (66 soap boxes kept inside a purple color bag and 35 soap boxes kept inside a carton box) were recovered. All the soap boxes contained Heroin which was confirmed by a preliminary test,” informed Nongtnger.

The heroin seized weigh 1.116 kg which has been trafficked from Myanmar.

The two women have been arrested under Madanrting P.S Case No. 150(11)2021 U/S 21(c)/29 NDPS Act and investigation is on to nab others involved in the racket.

Police hasn’t disclosed the identities of the women.
