SHILLONG, MAY 1: General Secretary of the Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) Wallambok Lyngdoh has been appointed by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF),New Delhi to be a Leader of the IMF sponsored expedition to Mt. Tinchinkhang (6010m) in Sikkim Himalayas.
IMF also selected nine climbing members from eight states of the North Eastern Region including two members from Meghalaya, Ngandarihun Sohshang, resident of Mawlai Nongpdeng, Shillong and Rilang Dkhar, resident of Umshaken, Ri-bhoi District. This expedition will begin from 1st – 21st May 2024, the MeSCMA informed in a statement issued on Wednesday.
This year IMF has planned to organized and sponsor mixed expedition for the first time in Sikkim Himalayas for the young mountaineers of the North Eastern Region in collaboration with the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism (IHCAE), Chemchey, Sikkim.
IMF is the apex National body for Mountaineering and Allied Sports. It supports, promotes and regulates national and international climbing in India and is affiliated to the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA). IMF is also the regulatory body for the competitive Olympic Sport of SPORT CLIMBING and is affiliated to the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).
The Association said that the State, through the Association has produced and nurtured both boys and girls to become mountaineers and Sport Climbers.

1. Wallambok Lyngdoh – Meghalaya
2. Rilang Dkhar – Meghalaya
3. Ngandarihun Sohshang – Meghalaya
4. Sonam Gyatso Lepcha – Sikkim
5. Neaha Rai – Sikkim
6. Radha Khatri – Sikkim
7. Maro Meto – Arunachal Pradesh
8. Lalruatdika – Mizoram 9. Yierhevitso Vakha – Nagaland
10. Biplab Das – Tripura
In the last moment two members from Manipur and Assam have cancelled their participation.
