Guwahati, Jan 12: The Young Mizo Association (YMA), Tuipuiral Group, on Thursday demanded the Indian government to take proactive action against Myanmar for dropping bombs near Indian soil.

“Greatly shocked to learn bombing on Indian soil by Myanmar Military Jet Fighter on January 10 at 3.30 pm, when the jet fighters dropped bombs on camp Victoria, the headquarters of the Chin National Front. The bomb had not just hit Indian soil but also partly damaged an Indian vehicle which was near the Tiau river, the international border, to collect sand,” YMA, Tuipuiral Group stated in a press release.

The YMA strongly condemned the military jets for disrespectfully flying over the Indian side.

“It is a painful assault on our great motherland, India, by jet fighters frightening and terrifying India farmers, Sand loaders and the common people, especially those living along the Indo-Myanmar border area. Many farmers and workers have been forced out of fear to stop their works when jet-fighters continued to drop bombs two more times on January 11, 2023,” it stated.

It further added, “We condemn the Military Government of Myanmar in the strongest possible terms for violating international law on both Indian soil and airspace. Tuipuiral Group YMA strongly demands that the Government of a great nation, India should take proactive actions to stop Myanmar military jet fighters bombing the Indian soil and flying over Indian airspace as soon as possible.”

Mizoram’s Farkawn village is within 2 to 5 km of Camp Victoria, where the air strikes were carried out. Champhai district of Mizoram is very close to the camp, where Myanmar’s military bombed and killed the rebels.

According to reports, one shell fell on the Indian side but there was no casualty. A truck on the river bank close to the border was damaged.
