Shillong, Dec 3: The prayers of the fans seems to have been answered as the renowned Danish pop rock band Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR) is all set to perform in Garo Hills on December 12, 2022.
The band will be performing at the Baljek Airport, Tura, West Garo Hills on the rescheduled date as part of their ‘Back on the Road Tour 2022’.
Mentionably, fans were left dejected after the concert of the band, as part of the 3-day Me’gong Festival in Garo Hills from December 1-3, was cancelled due to the State government’s solidarity with the victims of the Mukroh firing in West Jaintia Hills along the Assam-Meghalaya interstate boundary on November 22, 2022, which led to the death of 5 villagers from Meghalaya and one Assam forest guard.
Following the tragic incident, Meghalaya government had cancelled all state festivities including the famed Cherry Blossom Festival 2022. However, the govt order stated that all festivities would be cancelled only till November 30, 2022.
The MLTR concert, a free one nonetheless, was scheduled on December 1, 2022, and in Garo Hills. Many fans were hopeful that the concert would be unaffected by the govt order since it was after the notified date of Nov 30, and in Garo Hills region, whereas the impact of the Mukroh firing was primarily restricted to Khasi-Jaintia Hills region. But fans were left disheartened once the announcement came for the cancellation of the festival and the concert, and there was no mention of any rescheduled date for the concert.
Many had taken to social media to express their resentment and anguish especially those that had booked home stays, hotels and resorts and already paid advance besides doing their travel tickets.
Now, though, fans and many others have a reason to rejoice as they have been given one more shot to attend the once-in-a-lifetime concert of the world famous band, and make a perfect start to the Christmas festivities.
