Jowai, Dec 10: Meghalaya Home Minister and Amlarem MLA, Lahkmen Rymbui, on Friday inaugurated the Water Supply Scheme of Mustem Village, West JaiƱtia Hills which was constructed within 9 months at a cost of about Rs. 9.13 Crores.

Addressing the function, Rymbui said that the main reason for being able to complete the project within such a short period is because of the cooperation of the villagers and the officers and staffs of the Department.
He said that such achievements will also mark the golden jubilee celebrations of Meghalaya, which is attaining 50 years of statehood next year.
Rymbui also urged upon the villagers to take good care of the pipes and to have a sense of ownership and by doing so the project will outrun its projected lifespan.
Others present during the inauguration programme were the Chief Engineer of PHE, CR Challam amongst others.
Addl Chief Secretary, DP Wahlang, informed that the scheme was funded under RIDF and will provide Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) to 472 households of the village where each household will get an average of 500 litres of water per day.
