New Delhi, April 7: Minister for Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), G. Kishan Reddy, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, on Thursday informed that, as of now, there is no proposal for recommending Whistling Village (Kongthong) in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya as a Geographical Indication (GI).
As on April 4, 2022, the Office of Geographical Indications Registry has registered thirty-five (35) Geographical Indications Applications from North Eastern Region of India.
Two Geographical Applications, i.e., Memong Narang and Khasi Mandarin have been registered from State of Meghalaya.
