Nongpoh, May 13: The Nongpoh Police on Monday has arrested one suspect allegedly involved in the murder of one person on Sunday evening at Erpakon Village in Ri Bhoi District.
Superintendent of Police for Ri Bhoi District, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, stated that upon receiving the FIR from the deceased person’s relatives, the late Kyrmen Lyngdoh Nonglait, the police launched an interrogation, this led to the arrest of one individual suspected to be involved in the murder.
The suspect is identified as Raju Rajbhar from Sonapur, Kamrup Assam and is currently employed at a dhaba in Erpakon Village.
According to the SP, the fatal altercation occurred when Kyrmen and Raju were intoxicated, leading to a violent brawl. During the altercation, Raju allegedly used a plank to strike Kyrmen in the head which resulted in serious injuries. Raju subsequently fled the scene.
Despite being rushed to Nongpoh Civil Hospital, Kyrmen succumbed to his injuries.
Police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
