NPP getting good response, confident of winning elections: Conrad after casting vote at Walbakgre in South Tura

Tura, Feb 27: Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) chief Conrad K Sangma cast his vote at the Walbakgre LP School in South Tura constituency in Garo Hills on Monday morning.

A humble Conrad arrived at the polling station, got in the queue, and patiently waited for his turn to cast the vote. He was later joined by his sister and Tura MP Agatha Sangma, who also got in the queue and waited for her turn to cast vote.

After casting his ballot, he told the media persons that the party is getting good response and is confident of winning the polls. “We are getting good response from everywhere. We are seeing that people are coming out in large numbers to vote. Even in South Tura constituency, we have not seen this kind of turn out in the past. So it is a good sign, it’s good for democracy and we are happy to see that people are coming out and casting their vote in this election,” he said.

On the NPP wave and pulse of the people, he said, “I have already mentioned that it is positive. We are definitely very confident that it will be in our favour.”

On the query of post-poll alliance, he said they will see when the times comes as it is too early to comment on it as the voting is still underway.

To another query on pre-poll alliance and other parties campaigning against the NPP despite being together in governance, the NPP chief said the party has never been in a pre-poll alliance with any political party and this election is no different.

“There’s never been a pre-poll alliance with any political party ever. This election is no different. In other elections also, there have been campaigns against us and we have campaigned against them. So, that is what happens in elections. It is nothing new,” he said.
