NPP leads in Rajabala & Mawryngkneng, UDP in Mawphlang after round 2 of counting for bypolls

Shillong, Nov 2: The counting for the bye-elections to three Assembly constituencies got underway at 8 AM at Polo in Shillong and SMELC Dakopgre in Tura.

After the 1st and 2nd round, National People’s Party (NPP) was leading in Rajabala, and Mawryngkneng, and UDP was leading in Mawphlang.

NPP has fielded Adbus Saleh from Rajabala, Pyniaid Syiem from Mawryngkneng and Lamphrang Blah from Mawphlang.

After round 2, Pyniaid Syiem was leading his nearest contestant, Highlander Kharmalki of Congress, by 382 votes having received 3,343 votes in his favour in Mawryngkneng.

In Rajabala, Saleh was leading his nearest rival by 484 votes having received 2832 votes for far. His closest rival is Ashahel D. Shira of UDP who has so far secured 2348 votes.

For Mawphlang, UDP’s Eugeneson Lyngdoh was leading his nearest rival with a margin of 577 votes, having secured 3159 votes.

The polling for the bye-elections to the above seats was held on October 30, 2021.
