Shillong, Aug 21: One died while two others injured when they were struck by lightning at Golflink on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The three friends were playing football at Golflink Golf Course when it started to rain heavily. In order to protect themselves from the rain, they took shelter under a pine tree. However, suddenly lightning stuck and all of them fell down to the ground.

Police said all the three have been shifted to Civil Hospital where the attending medical officer had declared one of them dead.

The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Nonglang (37) of Mawlai Umjaiur.
