Shillong, Jan 29: Pahalgam hosted an Ice Climbing Wall Competition with 60 participants from a variety of backgrounds, challenging the natural ice walls of Pahalgam, on Sunday.
The event, a collaboration between the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports and the Pahalgam Development Authority aimed to promote adventure sports, showcasing the region’s winter activity potential.
The closing ceremony and prize distribution took place in the institute premises with all the 60 participants receiving certificates of appreciation.
Zeeshan Mushtaq from Srinagar emerged as the fastest climber. Mudasir Ahmad Malik and Umar Shafi Khan secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports highlighted its commitment to promoting adventure activities, encouraging youth to engage in nation-building activities.
Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal of the institute, praised the youth for their participation, highlighting the potential for adventure activities in Kashmir and how they can contribute to nation building by channelising their energies in right direction.
