Police arrests 35-year-old for shop lifting; accused used money to buy drugs

Shillong, Aug 26: A newly opened departmental store has been facing continuous menace of shop lifting. The police officers of sardar police station on Wednesday caught a 35-year-old man belonging from the Hajong tribe, for shoplifting from a shop named Jolly Belly which is situated above Choudhary Pharmacy.

The workers of the shop informed that the theft has taken place about 2-3 times.

It was after thorough observations through the CCTV camera that the shop keeper was able to take down the thief. He informed that the man was trying to steal about 4-5 products of the VLCC company which cost about Rs. 1500 – 2000.

The owner of the shop further informed that the accused has confessed to the crime to the police during interrogation and that he had been associated with group of thieves who regularly steal from shops in Police Bazaar to get money for drugs.
