Shillong, April 14: In another shot in arm for the Meghalaya Police, the force has managed to crack the case of new terror outfit ‘Lawei ba Phyrnai’, whereby the outfit had threatened to blow up educational institutes due to the failure of the government to provide jobs to youth.

Sources informed that three persons have been arrested in connection with the ‘Lawei ba Phyrnai’, which had recently sent two emails to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and claimed that they were untraceable. It had also demanded release of former HNLC chairman and former MLA Julius Kitbor Dorphang.

Sources said initially two persons were detained, and later one more person was arrested from whom police have recovered incriminating materials.

They were all arrested from Shillong and among them is the self-styled founder of ‘Lawei ba Phyrnai’.

While police officials have been tight lipped on the development and no one has spoken up officially on the case, sources said an official press release is expected to be issued by the department on Thursday even as the arrested persons are being interrogated for more information.
