Shillong, April 11: The state police have been asked to ascertain the genuineness of the threat issued by a “terror outfit” in social media.
“We have already asked the police department to trace it out and find out whether the threat circulated through the social media is genuine and whether it is true or not – and now the police are on the job,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Monday.
The “terror outfit” known as Lawei Ba Phyrnai has identified itself as a group of 37 unemployed youth and has threatened to plant series of bomb attacks targeting educational institutions in Shillong.
Later, the group further revealed that Lawei ba Phyrnai was originally an educational society before members and sponsors laid down their pens in exchange for AK-47s.
When asked if formation of the group was to disrupt the proposed peace talks with the HNLC, deputy chief minister however said, “That I don’t think so because, as I told you, we are determined. We already invited the HNLC and I am so happy at least now they wanted to have talks across the table. So let us see and I am sure they are so positive and from the government side also we are so positive and let us hope that the talks start very soon. I am sure we will be able to resolve this issue when we sit across the table.”
