Agartala, Dec 10: Hundreds of protesters under the banner of the Hindu Ekta Manch took to the streets of Kailashahar in Tripura’s Unakoti district on Tuesday, demanding the release of ISKCON spokesperson Chinmoy Das and decrying the rising persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.
The rally, which began at the tri-junction in Shrirampur and passed through the main areas of Kailashahar, was led by senior lawyer and Hindu leader Sandeep Debroy, alongside prominent figures such as Gautam Das, Deepak Bhattacharya, Uttam Deb, Shyamal Sarkar, Bijoy Das, and Ajay Das.
To maintain order during the rally, heightened security measures were implemented with the deployment of Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), state police, and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel.
Addressing the crowd, Sandeep Debroy accused Bangladesh’s interim government, led by Mohammad Yunus, of arbitrarily detaining Chinmoy Das. He declared that protests would continue until Das is released unconditionally.
Debroy also condemned the broader mistreatment of Hindus in Bangladesh, citing recent incidents of arson, violence, and the desecration of India’s national flag by fundamentalist groups.
