Protest rally in Tura by National Health mission staff seeking better pay

Must read

Tura, July 5: A large protest rally was held in Tura on Tuesday by members of the National Health Mission on Tuesday demanding better pay facilities in line with their medical work.

The rally saw active participation by several hundred NHM workers who comprised nurses, lab technicians, drivers, data entry operators, and other service providers, many of whom have been serving in the rural areas including remote PHCs.

The large participation of NHM employees for the protest march came from the five districts of Garo Hills. They first gathered at Tura circuit house and from there marched to the Tura DC office to handover a memorandum.

The striking employees are demanding that none of their fellow Service Delivery staff should get their salary deducted after rationalization. Employees are reportedly receiving a new pay structure that is way below what they previously was receiving before rationalization came into effect.

They also want the mission director of NHM in the state to redo the final approved draft for each cadre taking into proper consideration their qualifications and job descriptions as well as the increase in the cost of daily living.
