Guwahati, Jan 12: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday came down heavily on Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi for serious breach in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security during his visit to Punjab.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Wednesday, CM Sarma said, “It’s a big conspiracy to assinate Indian PM Narendra Modi in Punjab. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi was involved in the conspiracy. I demand Punjab CM should be arrested for hatching a conspiracy to kill PM Narendra Modi.”

“After the big security lapse, the Punjab CM might be involved in some international conspiracy to assinate Indian PM. How a Democracy party could involved in a conspiracy to kill PM?” asked Sarma.

Sarma said it was very unfortunate that after the serious lapse in PM security in Punjab, some leaders from Congress party made some irrelevant comments on social media.

“You are the chief minister of a state and people elect you after casting their votes but how could you be part of such big conspiracy. Punjab CM was the ‘part and parcel’ of the conspiracy to kill Indian PM,” added Sarma.

“I demand for a independent enquiry into the incident,” Sarma said.

The lapse in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security arrangements left his convoy stranded on a flyover for around 20 minutes, near Ferozepur in Punjab on January 5.
