Shillong, Feb 5: After more than 48 hours of being trapped under a mountain of garbage since Saturday, 30-year-old ragpicker Marshal Marwein remained untraceable till Monday afternoon.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was deployed into action on Sunday to search for the missing man at the landfill site in Marten, Shillong’s only dumping yard.
The SDRF was initiated by the East Khasi Hills District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
The SDRF team, led by B. Sahkhar, 2nd in Command of SDRF, is conducting the search and rescue operation in Marten along with staff from the Shillong Municipal Board.
It maybe mentioned that Marwein, a temporary resident of MawĆÆong from Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills, reportedly went missing after being buried under a pile of trash in Shillongās dumping ground of Marten, in Mawlai, on Saturday.
