Rains, thunderstorms expected in NE

Guwahati, Jan 11: While the winter is still quite a distance away from being over, people in the region will have to embrace for even lower temperatures as intermittent rains are set to drench parts of Northeast India this week, starting from Tuesday, Metrological department has predicted.

Moisture-laden winds are likely to bring scattered to widespread rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh from Tuesday to Thursday (January 11 to 13).

Meanwhile, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are in for scattered to fairly widespread rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday (January 12-13). Total rainfall accumulation may reach 80-100 mm over these aforementioned places on Wednesday and Thursday.

Along with rains, some places in the region are also likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning this week.
