Why is Raksha Bandhan being celebrated on two days?

This year, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on two dates, August 30 and August 31, because of Bhadra Kaal.

What is Bhadra Kaal?

According to Hindu astrology,  Bhadra Kaal is an inauspicious time frame, and during this period, people are advised not to get engaged in any kind of good or sacred activities.

The August 30 full moon coincides with the span of Bhadra, which will end around 9 p.m. Due to this celestial placement, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on two days.
