Shillong, Dec 8: Congress legislator from West Shillong Mohendro Rapsang on Thursday confirmed that he will be joining the National People’s Party (NPP) next week.
“As of now I am still the legislator of the Congress but I am not going to contest from the Congress as I am under suspension and by the next ten days I will resign from the party and as an MLA also but to join a new party, and I am sure I will joined the NPP,” said Rapsang.
On resigning from the Congress party, he said he felt bad about on the way the party has treated him and the four other suspended MLAs.
Mentionably, Rapsang along with four others legislators of the party were suspended by Congress for extending support to the NPP-led MDA government because it is also has BJP in the coalition.
‘Human development’ and ‘locality development’ are the two mains priorities in his list for the upcoming 2023 election.
Lauding the NPP led MDA government, Rapsang said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma many new youth programs have been implemented in this tenure and many more are expecting in the future.
“Lots of programs for the people, for the poor, programs for the farmers, the sports person, youths and skill development, so we have high hopes on Conrad Sangma who is young and dynamic… in the next election where the majority of the NPP MLA will come, we will see a change in Meghalaya,” he said.
