Nongpoh, Feb 23: The Ri Bhoi District Administration has seized vehicles allegedly involved in illegally transporting stones from stone crushers in Umtyrnga areas to Assam, violating the instructions of the government and without proper documentation. According to the information received from some villagers (name withheld), the vehicles were ceased by the authority of Ri Bhoi District after a surprise checking on the illegal stone crushers and quarries located in and around Umtyrnga areas.

Moreover, it was informed that the vehicles were illegally transporting stone chips to Assam during night time using duplicate registration numbers. During the day time, they would be parked at the place where they were seized along with the registration numbers noted by the district administration of Ri Bhoi District.
